I remember this happening during the Obama years and it’s predictably happening again under Joe Biden. Back under Obama, his administration would pass a massive shit bill, like the healthcare overhaul, and then the White House would put him On The Road™️ so he could explain to voters just how great he had made their lives.

You’d think a solid new government initiative would speak for itself in very simple terms. Are Americans better off? Are their lives easier? Can they physically see and touch the ways in which they’ve benefited?

But not these sensational new bills. They’re apparently beyond that. Someone has to let you know that you’re so much better off because of them. Even if you can’t already sense it yourself.

Biden did a version of this back in January when nearly 60 percent of voters said they disapproved of his job performance, which was obviously terrible, specifically on the spread of Covid infection (which was four times higher under him than his predecessor). A reporter asked him at a press conference whether he would “course correct.”

“Look, I didn’t overpromise, but I have probably outperformed what anybody thought would happen,” Biden said. (Yes, he said that.) He went on to say, “What I have to do, and the change in tactic, if you will: I have to make clear to the American people what we are for. We’ve passed a lot. We’ve passed a lot of things that people don’t even understand what’s all that’s in it, understandably.”

See? It’s not that the spread of Covid had far surpassed anything that happened under Donald Trump. It’s that voters don’t quite understand that things are good, not bad.

White House voodoo doll Karine Jean-Pierre did a version of this Monday when she was asked by a reporter about when — dear God, when?! — Americans will begin feeling the benefits of Biden’s con-artist “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Jean-Pierre said it would be “early next year” that Americans start feeling “pieces” of the law’s effects.
