Three indisputable facts regarding the southern border:
Joe Biden explicitly campaigned on admitting anyone into the U.S. who flung themselves across the Southern border — “If you want to flee and you are fleeing oppression, you should come” — and then once in office, he bragged about undoing everything his predecessor had put in place that attempted to keep would-be illegal border crossers at bay.
Almost every single month of Biden’s term in office has seen record breaking numbers of migrants crossing illegally into the U.S., with December being the highest to date at more than 300,000; furthermore, the vast majority of apprehensions are of single adults, meaning they’re not family units involving children, which was the bulk of the problem under Trump and to some extent, Obama.
Democrats have no leverage to negotiate on the problem, which all polls show that voters blame them for, and that’s why they’re trying to introduce a bill that wouldn’t fix it, but would allow them to say they tried and failed only because Republicans didn’t support it.
Taken together, it all means only one thing…
